HONOLULU – Tripler Army Medical Center is committed to maintaining its reputation as an outstanding military hospital and to consistently provide the best possible care to our patients. We recently placed an Opinionmeter in the Obstetrics and Gynecology waiting area in order to monitor our performance in the area of customer service.
An Opinionmeter is an interactive, easy-to-use computerized device designed to allow patients to input their feedback regarding the service they received during their appointments.
The device stands approximately four feet tall. It’s hard to miss the bright yellow questionnaire located atop the keyboard. Directions are self-explanatory. Patients can administer the questionnaire by themselves anonymously – all answers go directly into the computer inside the machine, or they may leave their name and phone number at the prompt if they wish to be contacted.
The Opinionmeter has been officially up and running in the hospital’s OB/GYN clinic since Aug. 29. The response by patients so far has been encouraging.
“We’ve been up and running for just five days,” said Donna Tamura-Wageman, Tripler’s Patient Representative. “In those five days, we have had 40 questionnaires answered.”
The information collected by the Opinionmeter will assist Tripler in meeting patient needs, help to implement new programs and services, and meet patient satisfaction expectations.
